How does Deodorant Work
Deodorant is the term used to describe a range of substances that affect body odour in a positive manner. A lot of of body odour is caused by bacterial growth, and comes with a smell due to the breakdown of perspiration. There are some parts of the body that are particularly affected by this breakdown, including feet, armpits, and the groin area. While a deodorant can be a natural item that is applied to the human body, it normally refers to a commercial product that is administered directly in order to stop unwanted perspiration and body odour Deodorant products are also known as antiperspirants, and are made in a wide range of different forms from a range of different materials. Deodorants are designed to eliminate odour through slowing down bacterial growth and masking the odour of perspiration through perfume fragrances and natural essential oils.

Human perspiration is mostly odourless unless it is fermented by bacteria. However, because some parts of the human body, human underarms in particular, are consistently warm, they often create an unwanted odour Deodorant is designed to eliminate this odour, as well as cover it up with scented perfumes and oils. There are a wide range of different deodorant products on the market, some of which place more emphasis on covering up smells and others which contain more active ingredients to eliminate odour While antiperspirant products are often used interchangeably with deodorants, they actually work differently by affecting odour as well as preventing sweating. In the United States and some other jurisdictions, antiperspirants are classified as drugs by the FDA while deodorant products are classified as cosmetics.

There are a range of deodorant products that contain a mixture of deodorant and antiperspirant ingredients, which are designed to attempt to stop or reduce perspiration in moist environments. A range of different ingredients are used to achieve this effect, with different products utilising different materials and different forms of application. Aluminium chloride, aluminium chlorohydrate, aluminium-zirconium compounds, and aluminium zirconium tetrachlorohydrex gly are frequently used in antiperspirants. Deodorant products also come in a variety of different forms, including roll on products, spray products, and natural crystals.
